VAN RENSBURG GALLERIES

"Invisible Boundaries" is an evocative exhibition that challenges viewers to contemplate the personal and geographical limitations influence our decisions. At the heart of this compelling series by Green are eight paintings that transform dramatically under different lighting conditions-one scene illuminated by natural light, and another revealed through the use of ultraviolet and phosphorescent paint.

Golden Worlds

The exhibition "Golden Worlds" marks a significant turning point in Veronica Green's career. About half of the works in this exhibition are in line with her historical practice, featuring brightly coloured narratives with figures of children and fairy-tale characters engaged in acts of defiance or contrition. The other half, described as the golden section, diverges from this approach by focusing on the abstract qualities of her dreamlike landscapes. While these pieces still include her familiar symbolic characters, their presence is markedly reduced, allowing the landscapes themselves to take center stage.

Held at the 30 Upstairs Gallery, Green, born in Wellington, New Zealand in 1984, intricately weaves symbolic themes, historical references, and personal iconography into a dense network of visual references within her work.

If disentangling from the different cultures that make up our society is a very complex process in itself, the contemporary globalized world further enriches this cultural background of rooted traditions. In particular, with the development of the new media (television, cinema and the Internet), a global cultural revolution occurred during the last sixty years, where various populations have become increasingly closer and mixed, and where a common popular culture has emerged. In her works,
