The Temptress

Solo Exhibition

Movimento Arte Contemporanea, Milan, Italy

04 December 2009 - 22 January 2010

The Temptress marks a pivotal moment in Veronica Green’s exploration of light, material, and perception.

In this body of work, Green begins to move beyond purely narrative imagery, experimenting with iridescent pigments, spray paint, and layered surfaces that respond subtly to shifts in light. Rather than transforming entirely, the paintings shimmer, distort, and reveal themselves gradually—inviting a slower, more attentive way of looking.

The exhibition explores themes of attraction, illusion, and projection. Figures and forms appear within these surfaces as fleeting presences—never fully fixed, always slightly out of reach. Temptation is not presented as a singular subject, but as a condition shaped by perception: what draws us in, what we believe we see, and what remains just beyond clarity.

Surface becomes central. Through layering and variation in texture and finish, Green creates works that oscillate between visibility and concealment. The eye is continuously pulled across the canvas, searching for certainty, yet encountering only shifting impressions.

The Temptress introduces an early investigation into light as an active element within Green’s practice—laying the groundwork for her later developments, where transformation and duality become more pronounced.
