Drift With Me

Solo Exhibition

Whirinaki Whare Taonga, Upper Hutt, New Zealand

30 November 2007 - 6 January 2008

Drift with Me marks Veronica Green’s first major institutional solo exhibition, introducing the early foundations of her practice.

Across the works, Green constructs narrative environments shaped by symbolism, imagination, and emotional reflection. Figures move through dreamlike landscapes where scale and space remain fluid, allowing multiple readings to coexist. These paintings do not follow fixed stories, but instead unfold as open-ended scenes—inviting the viewer into a process of interpretation.

Recurring motifs of movement, passage, and suspension suggest a state of transition. The idea of “drifting” becomes both physical and psychological, describing a way of navigating uncertainty, memory, and inner experience.

Even at this early stage, Green’s interest in layered meaning is evident. The works hint at realities that extend beyond the visible surface, establishing a direction that would later develop into her multi-scenario, light-responsive practice.

Drift with Me positions painting as a space of possibility—where narrative, perception, and imagination begin to merge.
