Colombi Santi o Peccatori?

Solo Exhibition

Associazione Spiazzi Galleria, Venice, Italy

4 April - 20 April 2008

Colombi, Santi o Peccatori marks Veronica Green’s first European exhibition, developed during her residency in Venice.

In this early body of work, Green begins to construct a symbolic visual language through which themes of morality, identity, and human duality are explored. Figures, animals, and architectural elements appear within layered environments, suggesting moments of choice, tension, and reflection.

The title—Doves, Saints or Sinners—introduces a central question that runs throughout the exhibition: how we define ourselves within opposing states. Rather than offering resolution, the works hold these conditions in balance, allowing contradiction to remain present.

Venice, with its layered history and shifting sense of place, becomes an underlying influence. The city’s atmosphere—its fluidity, its sense of passage between worlds—echoes within the paintings, where space is never entirely fixed.

This exhibition lays the foundation for Green’s ongoing exploration of symbolic imagery and layered meaning, establishing a practice that would continue to evolve across subsequent works and contexts.
