Atlantis

Solo Exhibition

Melori and Rosenberg Galleries, Venice, Italy

14 June - 26 July 2009

Atlantis explores the imagined relationship between myth and place, drawing a poetic parallel between the lost city of Atlantis and Venice itself.

Created during Green’s early period, the works weave together elements of water, memory, and architecture. Subtle references to Venice appear throughout—reflections, structures, and fragments that echo the city’s unique presence as both a physical location and a cultural myth.

In these paintings, land and water dissolve into one another, creating environments that feel suspended between reality and imagination. The city becomes fluid, shifting, and elusive—mirroring the legend of Atlantis as a place both remembered and unreachable.

Rather than depicting a single narrative, the exhibition suggests a dialogue between two worlds: one real, one imagined. Through this interplay, Atlantis reflects on the fragility of place, the persistence of memory, and the ways in which history and myth continuously shape one another.
